Yellow Rat Snake
This Yellow Rat Snake was nearly clubbed to death with a golf putter. A startled home owner took a swing, but the snake got away. Kevin located the snake inside the home. The injury could have been fatal, if this snake were immediately released. Trapper Holloway treated the snake with antibiotics and assisted in feeding (the hunting part) until this Yellow Rat was ready for release.
Yellow Rats are constrictors, adults feed on mice and rats.

Update - this little guy recovered very nicely, with little more than a small scar. He was donated to the Pinellas County Animal Services, to earn his keep in education. We never harm snakes. All captured snakes are adopted or placed in learning centers.
