Wildlife Frequently Asked Questions

How do you find wild animals in my attic? Our digital thermal camera allows us to literally see animals that other trappers may miss. Heat sensitive technology allows us to locate animals hiding under insulation or tucked into nooks & crannies in your attic. Infrared inspections allow us to give our clients piece of mind, no animals are left behind.

Do you trap alligators?
Sorry, no. You need to call the FWC for a licensed alligator trapper. In Florida, legal alligator trappers must contract with the state. The Statewide Nuisance Alligator Program experiences very little turnover among its contracted trappers. Consequently, trapper positions are rarely available.
REMEMBER - Fed alligators lose their fear of people and can be dangerous. For this reason it is against the law in Florida to feed wild alligators or other wild crocodilians.

Do you do pest control for bugs? Generally trappers do not train in pest control, and like wise for pest control operators - they are not experienced in wildlife removal. We refer to Soles Exterminating 727-397-8179 or on the web www.solesexterminating.com  and  Coastal Pest Control 727-345- 3354.

Do you use poison? No. Poison is never a good idea, ESPECIALLY if wildlife has access to your
home. If they eat poison and then crawl into your attic, under your house - STINKY! And then THAT will attract other wildlife, looking for a 'free' meal.

So what can we expect? Our first contact is generally by phone, once we know what type of animal you are concerned with, we can give you an estimate for our service.  We will come and inspect your home or business to find entry points. At that point, we will give you a written estimate and consultation of suggested services. Once the client accepts our services, we then set traps to catch the animals. Some animals have to be physically removed, such as snakes. After all animals are trapped, we suggest that we seal up all possible entry points and make your house unattractive for future guests. We also can fix damage caused by the animals.

How long does it take? It depends on what type of animal you are having a problem with. On average MOST trapping jobs, for say a raccoon or armadillo can be completed in less than a week. A snake? If the snake's location is known - it can be removed immediately!

How much does it cost? It is impossible to quote an exact price without a thorough understanding of the location and situation of any given job. Each job is different. Please call, let us know what you have and then you will receive an estimate for the job. We ALWAYS give quotes BEFORE any work is started. If you're a USA Veteran ask for your discount!

You just came yesterday & there’s an animal in the trap, what should I do? Call us and we will come out for a pick up. If it’s a really hot day & you’re not too squeamish, you could give the animal a LIGHT MISTING with your garden hose to keep it cool. DO NOT TRY TO FEED IT.

After you get the animal out, can I wait a while to have the repairs done? You really shouldn’t wait. Exclusion is a VERY important part of wildlife control. Once an animal has left his 'scent' - that odor will attract other animals to the area.

Do snakes live in the ocean? From a caller in Crystal River. His wife, much to her surprise caught a snake while fishing. In Florida we DO have a snake that lives in the salt water! It's a Salt Marsh Snake. For more info on water snakes visit this website
